ICF Construction and WireTracks

Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) are extremely durable and highly energy efficienct concrete construction method. ICFs are hollow blocks or panels made of rigid polystyrene foam that are filled with concrete to produce insulated walls.

Although this is one of the fastest growing construction methods in the United States and Canada, it is difficult to prewire ICFs and very difficult to add wiring to an ICF home after it is built.

To solve this problem, you can install WireTracks NC throughout a ICF home during the construction phase. The following graphic shows a profile of a ICF-paneled wall with WireTracks.

In this example, WireTracks is installed below the wallboard and new wiring can be run from the attic, through the conduit, and into the WireTracks channel. Once in the channel, the wiring can be routed to any location within the building, as long as there are connected walls between the two locations.
