SIPs Construction
and WireTracks Structured Insulated Panels (SIPs) are building panels that are used in residential and commercial applications which provide a high-level of energy efficiency. They are generally made from a polystyrene core that is sandwiched between two pieces of oriented stranded board (OSB). Although this is an excellent construction method, it is difficult to prewire SIPs panels and very difficult to add wiring to a SIPs home after it is built. To solve this problem, you can install WireTracks NC throughout a SIPs home during the construction phase. The following graphic shows a profile of a SIPs-paneled wall with WireTracks. In this example, WireTracks is installed below the wallboard and new wiring can be run from the attic, through the conduit, and into the WireTracks channel. Once in the channel, the wiring can be routed to any location within the building, as long as there are connected walls between the two locations. |
